Report: FBI vetting all troops protecting inauguration over insider attack concerns
Ahead of Wednesday’s inauguration, the Associated Press reports the FBI will vet all 25,000 National Guard troops in Washington, D.C. over fears of an insider attack. Former CIA director John Brennan says it’s necessary after a “growing crescendo” throughout the last few months that “amounts to an insurrection.” Michael Leiter, former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, says the precautions are “heartening” because it shows protocols are being taken that were absent during the Capitol invasion.
