In an unusual exchange on live TV, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski breaks news with his first denial of a blockbuster New York Times report that Trump called Lewandowski to get help ousting Jeff Sessions from the DOJ during the Russia probe. The Times reported that kind of call could be part of attempted obstruction of justice, but Lewandowski refused to go along. Asked about it for the first time, Lewandowski denies the story, saying “I don't ever remember the President ever asking me to get involved with Jeff Sessions, or the Department of Justice, in any way shape or form ever,” and claims the NYT reporters did not even call him to validate the claim. Anchor Ari Melber presses Lewandowski on his denial, noting that Lewandowski went beyond the details in the article to deny he was not driving to Dunkin Donuts during the alleged call from Trump, a detail that was not in the original Times article.Feb. 23, 2019
