#BIGPICTURE: Ash erupts near the Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii
Officials warned residents to stay away from part of Hawaii's Big Island after a plume of ash from the Kilauea volcano rose 12,000 feet into the air. These people are watching the ash erupt, as the area remains under red alert. Even though the ash itself isn't poisonous, people still need to worry about toxic gas.
