Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in New York for the United Nations Security Council meeting on the Middle East. Andrea Mitchell is joined by Alon Pinkas, former Consul General in New York and former advisor to Prime Ministers Ehud Barak and Shimon Peres, to discuss Blinken’s call for the U.S. to pause air strikes to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. “I think the Israeli war cabinet… is going to look at both and say, if they're smart, we'll take it. We'll do what he asks in terms of pausing air strikes to allow for humanitarian aid,” Pinkas says. “If Israel is intent on obliterating Hamas, which is a legitimate goal, Israel surely understands, we surely understand, that this entails a ground operation.”Oct. 24, 2023
