The Census Bureau defines the “Center of Population” as the place where an imaginary, flat, weightless, and rigid map of the United States would balance perfectly if all residents were of identical weight. The center started in 1790 in Kent County, MD and has moved almost 900 miles to Plato, MO.May 11, 2011
