Two years ago, msnbc’s Lawrence O’Donnell teamed up with UNICEF to create the K.I.N.D. Fund: Kids In Need of Desks. The program provides schools in Malawi with desks–a rare treat for many of these students who spend their days sitting on dirt floors for hours at a time. For the show, it’s a year-round effort to keep the program thriving.

Thanks to your generosity in this season of giving, in the past 48 hours viewers like you contributed another $80,000, which will enable us to deliver another 1,200 desks to classrooms. That brings our grand fundraising total to more than $4.6 million–enough to give hundreds of thousands of kids a better chance at learning and funded jobs for Malawi workers (who build the desks) who will be able to feed their families.

For $32.50, you can provide a seat for one student. For $65, you can purchase an entire desk that will seat two or three students. No donation is too small. If you want to contribute to the K.I.N.D Fund, please visit LastWordDesks.msnbc.com or call 1-800-4-UNICEF.
