What's productivity? "Congress already setting records for futility, a nation trying to absorb rapid transformation and a political system designed to slow the pace of change have led Washington D.C. into a gridlock.The much-criticized 112th Congress - from 2011 to 2012 - was the least productive and least popular Congress on record, according to the available statistics," NBC News reports. "Now six months in – highlighted by a string of legislative stalemates – the 113th Congress (2013-2014) is on track to match or even surpass those dubious distinctions."
Immigration's daunting future. The AP looks at the immigration debate's future in the House, writing that "lawmakers have shown little appetite for the large-scale, comprehensive approach their Senate colleagues embraced last week." But on Sunday, Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York predicted that the House would approve the Senate's bill. Schumer: “We'll pass the Senate bill by the end of this year even though most House members don't think so.”
Woman power. Exclusive: The National Republican Senatorial Committee is launching its newest web video as part of its "Yes" campaign, working to counter the perception that the GOP is the "Party of No." The 90-second video focuses on the "Voices of Republican Women," and features Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) talking about how their conservative policies can tackle issues to help the economy, small businesses and education.
