State of the day: Colorado

As we narrow in on election day the Cyclists have been looking at key battleground states to see how they will affect the election. Today the spotlight is on Colorado.

Currently, the polls are showing a dead heat in this state, which has 9 electoral votes, with Obama up slightly, 48.4% to Romney’s 47.4%, according to the RCP average. Back in 2008 the state went for Obama, while in 2004 it went for President Bush.

Romney will be in Colorado Saturday, and Obama, who was there on Thursday, will be back Sunday, after he swings through Ohio again.

1.3 million Coloradans have voted early, of whom 38% are Republican while 35% are Democrats. Back in 2008, 80% of Colorado voters voted early.
