The White House got into the spirit of April Fools’ Day today with a special video message from the president--the “kid president” that is.

This morning the White House Twitter account sent out this tweet:

And on the White House Facebook page they teased the White House special announcement with an image of the White House briefing podium and telling everyone to tune in at 10:00 am ET for a special video message from the president.

When Americans tuned in to the wh.gov page to see what President Obama had to say, they heard “Hail to the Chief” playing and then saw the so-called “Kid President” pop up from behind the briefing room podium and say “looks like you were expecting somebody else.”  The video (below) featured the “Kid President” talking to the camera and acting like a kid from the White House briefing room.

Since July of last year, 9-year-old Robby, the “Kid President," with help from his older brother-in-law, Brad Montague, have created a series of YouTube videos because they “believe kids can change the world. We also believe grownups can change the world. It just takes all of us working together,”according to KidPresident.com.

While the video was being released, the First Family was hosting the 135th annual Easter Egg Roll. Thousands gathered on the White House lawn for one of the most anticipated events of the year: meeting President Obama and the Easter Bunny.
