* The crisis in Nairobi, where Al Shabaab gunmen stormed a Kenyan mall, killing more than 60 people, is ongoing.
* The death toll was even higher in Pakistan, where two suicide bombers rushed into a Christian church over the weekend and killed at least 85 people.
* Egypt: "An Egyptian court on Monday ordered the dissolution of the Muslim Brotherhood and the confiscation of its assets, sharply escalating a broad crackdown on the group in the three months since the military ousted its ally, Mohamed Morsi, from the presidency."
* More signs of diplomatic progress: "Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to meet with Iran's foreign minister on Thursday at the United Nations, the Associated Press reports."

* The mass hunger strike among detainees at Guantanamo Bay appears to have ended.
* Multiple reports suggest Janet Yellen is "the exclusive front-runner to run the Federal Reserve."
* The FBI's new director, James Comey, begins with a lot on his plate. Near the top of his troubles are painful and unnecessary budget cuts: "By Oct. 1, Comey must find about $800 million in savings out of an annual FBI budget of about $8.1 billion. Layoffs and furloughs appear inevitable."
* Dr. Prabhjot Singh, a Columbia University professor and practicing physician, was attacked by more than dozen young men over the weekend who accused him of being a terrorist. Sing is a Sikh-American.
* Last week, the right insisted Warren Buffett opposes the Affordable Care Act. The claim was immediately and thoroughly debunked. And yet, over the weekend, there was Rep Tom Graves (R-Ga.) repeating the falsehood on a Sunday show, where the lie went unchecked.
