Today's edition of quick hits.

Today's edition of quick hits:

* I'll have more on this in the morning: "In a thousand-page bipartisan report released Tuesday, the Senate Intelligence Committee painted a stark portrait of a Trump campaign eager to accept help from a foreign power in 2016, and a candidate closely involved in the effort."

* "You've seen what's going on in New Zealand?" Donald Trump told supporters yesterday, referring to a country that went months without any new coronavirus cases. "Big surge in New Zealand. It's terrible. We don't want that." On Monday, New Zealand had nine new cases. Also on Monday, the United States had over 40,000 new cases.

* Wall Street is not the economy: "Stocks roared past their all-time record highs on Tuesday, powered by rising tech shares and robust quarterly earnings from retailers such as Walmart and Home Depot. The S&P 500 index closed with a record high of 3,389 on Tuesday, erasing all losses since the coronavirus pandemic took hold."

* Ten governors are apparently going to work cooperatively on coordinating COVID-19 testing: "To hear Maryland's Larry Hogan and Virginia's Ralph Northam tell it, the growing number of governors coming together to buy millions of rapid-response coronavirus tests is a direct response to the Trump administration's failure to impose a national testing strategy."

* It's easy to imagine other universities will soon follow: "The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill announced Monday that it was converting to all virtual classes after reporting 135 new COVID-19 cases and four clusters within a week of having started in-person classes for the fall semester -- becoming the first college to send students home after having reopened."

* Everything about Iowa's disaster declaration has been a little odd: "President Donald Trump said he had signed an emergency declaration for Iowa to help supply federal money to help the state recover from an unusual wind storm that struck a week ago but federal emergency management officials later confirmed he had only signed a portion of the request."

* A story I've been keeping an eye on: "California on Monday finalized a legal settlement with five of the world's largest automakers that binds them to comply with its stringent state-level fuel efficiency standards that would cut down on climate-warming tailpipe emissions."

* A preliminary injunction: "A federal judge blocked the Trump administration on Monday from enforcing a new regulation that would roll back health care protections for transgender people."

* Alas, misinformation and failures of critical thinking can spread like a virus, too: "Doctors on the front lines of the global pandemic say they are fighting not just the coronavirus, but also increasingly combating a never-ending scourge of misinformation about the disease that is hurting patients."

* On the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment: "President Donald Trump announced that he plans to grant a posthumous pardon Tuesday afternoon to women's rights activist Susan B. Anthony, who was charged with voting illegally in the 1872 presidential election.

See you tomorrow.
