Today's installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* Vice President-elect Kamala Harris campaigned in Georgia yesterday, and today will be an even bigger day for high-profile gatherings: Vice President Mike Pence will headline an event in Georgia this afternoon; President-elect Joe Biden also has event scheduled this afternoon; and Donald Trump will hold a rally this evening. Georgia's U.S. Senate runoffs are tomorrow.
* Sen. David Perdue (R), one of the Georgia incumbents on the ballot tomorrow, came in "close contact with someone on the campaign who tested positive for COVID-19" and went into quarantine over the holiday weekend.
* Peter Navarro, who somehow became a leading presidential advisor in the Trump White House, argued on Fox News over the weekend that Inauguration Day can be delayed past Jan. 20. The U.S. Constitution points in the opposite direction. In a separate interview, Navarro also called for tomorrow's elections in Georgia to be postponed in response to baseless claims of voter fraud.
* On Friday, Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) didn't vote when the Senate approved funding for the military. On Saturday, she accused Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) of wanting to "defund our military," despite the fact that he, unlike Loeffler, actually supported the veto override that funded the military. And on Sunday, Loeffler refused to say whether she would've voted to fund the military if she'd shown up for work.
* On New Year's Eve, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) started raising money off the anti-election scheme he announced a day earlier.
* Though the results from Iowa's 2nd congressional district are still being contested, House Democratic leaders agreed to seat Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa.) As things stand, Miller-Meeks appears to have won by just six votes -- in one of the closest congressional elections in American history -- though Rita Hart has formally contested her apparent defeat, pointing to 22 excluded ballots that Hart believes should've been counted. The House Administration Committee is investigating.
* Former First Lady Michelle Obama has kept a relatively low profile of late, though she has recorded robocalls ahead of the Senate runoff races in Georgia.
* And New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) has canceled his state's outdoor inauguration ceremony, citing public safety concerns surrounding "armed protesters who have been gathering outside his home in the weeks since he issued a mask order." There will instead be a small, private ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 7.
