Jeb Bush unveils logo ahead of 2016 presidential announcement

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has made it all but official.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has made it all but official.

A day before he is expected to formally announce his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, Bush released a YouTube video Sunday featuring Floridians highlighting Bush’s impact as governor of the Sunshine State -- and debuting his new "Jeb! 2016" campaign logo.

One woman in the video discussed Bush’s work to combat domestic violence. Another talked about a school voucher program that helped her become the first person in her family to graduate from high school and eventually college.

“I am proud of the fact that many families now have the chance to live lives of purpose and meaning,” Bush said in the video. “You can improve the life of people, whether it's in the programs for the developmentally disabled, or changing our economy, or fixing our higher education system. All of these things can be fixed, I am absolutely convinced of it. What we need is new leadership that takes conservative principles and applies them so that people can rise up. America's best days are in front of us, and we are going to lead the world.”

With Bush set to finally enter the crowded and still-growing 2016 Republican field, he finds himself facing an unexpected uphill climb. When Bush announced he was exploring a presidential bid back in December, he was widely thought to be the candidate to beat in the GOP primary. But he has stumbled over questions about the war in Iraq that his brother, former President George W. Bush, started. And while Bush was in Europe last week -- a trip without any major speed bumps -- a pre-campaign staff shakeup was dominating domestic headlines. While in Berlin, Bush said he was "confident that the team in place will do their job and I got to do my job as well.”

While on his swing through Europe, Bush sat down with NBC News' Chris Jansing and hit on some of the same themes of the video. “We can fix the problems that people think are intractable. With leadership we can move forward again. We can be the greatest country on the face of the Earth again, I truly believe it,” Bush said in the interview.

Bush added in the interview that he would take Sunday to "decompress" and gather his thoughts ahead of his announcement event Monday in Miami.

“I need to sharpen the saw, I need to go to mass, I need to be with my grandkids,” Bush said. “I just need to decompress a little bit. On Sunday, I get to do that and I’ve always found that to be important, and then Monday, just have fun – It’s going to be an exciting time. I’m really excited about this.”
