Growing up is a hard thing to do, at the Box Office, that is.

Universal’s Despicable Me 2 continued its box office reign this weekend with a $45 million weekend.

Grown Ups 2 outperformed Guillermo del Toro’s critically-lauded Pacific Rim. Audiences preferred escaping the heat laughing to bathroom humor instead of suspending their disbelief in an epic battle of monsters vs. robots.

The hilarious duo of The Heat’s Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock took fourth at the box office, beating out the Lone Ranger’s Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.
