The pressure is on to strike a deal. According to the latest NBC News/ Wall Street Journal Poll 48% of Americans are optimistic that a deal will be reached on the fiscal cliff. However they do not trust Speaker John Boehner (R-OH)  to handle the negotiations. Americans trust the president to handle the fiscal cliff over Speaker Boehner, 38% to 19%.

According to a recent ABC/Washington post  poll 54% of Americans disapprove of the way Speaker Boehner is handling fiscal cliff negotiations. While when American's were polled about the way President Obama was handling the talks it was more evenly distributed with 47% approving his tactics and 46% disapproving. Thus, the pressure is on Speaker Boehner to find a compromise with President Obama before we go over the fiscal cliff.

Yesterday, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) gave Speaker Boehner a little piece of her mind. Nancy Pelosi is not the only one frustrated over the situation. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that 70% of Democrats and 59% of Republicans want their party leaders to reach a compromise on the fiscal cliff debate, even if it means going away from their traditional standpoint on taxes and entitlements.

So who do you trust to handle these negotiations? Chief White House Correspondent, NBC News Chuck Todd joins the conversation to help the Cyclists break down all the latest numbers.  Be sure to tune in at 3 p.m. for the full conversation.
