Olympian Oscar Pistorius is out on bail and awaiting trial in June for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The Paralympic community that once embraced Pistorius and hailed him a hero is now in shock and disbelief.  Sir Philip Craven who runs the International Paralympic Committee is trying to keep Pistorius’ legal troubles separate from the Paralympic movement.  The Telegraph’s sports journalist Gareth A. Davies has personally known Pistorius for ten years, following his heroic career and sudden fall from grace.  Davies joined the Cyclists on Friday. “I am incredibly shocked by the events of the last eight days,” he said.

Davies shared his  unique insight into Pistorius’ life, saying  ”he has always come across as an incredibly humble guy who is this amazing tail as a kid born without the fibula, the shin bones on his legs, who fought the world to run fast.” Davies told the hosts about Pistorius’  time in high school, relationships with past girlfriends, the day he was accused of terrorism, and his rise to world stardom at the 2012 Olympics.
