Putting a face to the student debt struggle

Ronan Farrow introduces this week’s Call to Action: student loan debt. Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich talks about the bigger picture of the issue.

The Call: Tell us about your student loan debt

Updated

Ladies and gents—

On Ronan Farrow Daily, we spend a lot of time jawin’ and yakkin’. But we’re also about getting things done. And that’s where you come in. Every week, we’ll kick off a new call to action – introducing you to different facets of an issue and letting you speak out and push it forward.

This week, help us put a human face on this super-scary statistic: more than 40 million owe 1.2 trillion dollars on their student loans.

Across the country, these people made what they felt was an intelligent investment – but that diploma came with a crippling burden that is preventing young Americans from buying homes, starting families, and achieving their dreams.

Are you one of them?  Well, we want to hear from you.

It’s easy. Make a sign and write:

  • Your first name
  • How much you owe
  • OR the date you’ll have your loan paid off.

Then take a picture of yourself with your glorious sign, and tweet it our way at @RonanDaily.

Join in like young Eric, our intrepid Associate Producer.

Send us your photos, and we’ll show a few on the air…and re-tweet some of our favorites.  Keep coming back to the website for updates throughout the week.

You can also join the Team Ronan group to discuss this week’s call. You may see me and the team joining the discussion there.

Thanks,
Ronan
