Jerry Leiber, the genius who, with Mike Stoller, co-wrote “Jailhouse Rock, “King Creole,” Stand By Me,” “On Broadway” and about a jillion other rock and R&B standards that you know by heart and that changed the world forever, has died in Los Angeles at age 78.
"Hound Dog,” “Young Blood,” “Poison Ivy,” “Love Potion #9,” so many more,-- How many songwriters could make you laugh and dance --at the same time? And could also be achingly romantic and smart and sexy---at the same time? Jerry Leiber served up slices of heaven, three minutes at a time.
