Jerry Leiber, the genius who, with Mike Stoller, co-wrote “Jailhouse Rock, “King Creole,” Stand By Me,” “On Broadway” and about a jillion other rock and R&B standards that you know by heart and that changed the world forever, has died in Los Angeles at age 78.

“Hound Dog,” “Young Blood,” “Poison Ivy,” “Love Potion #9,” so many more,–  How many songwriters could make you laugh and dance –at the same time? And could also be achingly romantic and smart and sexy—at the same time? Jerry Leiber served up slices of heaven, three minutes at a time.
