The high temperature in Chicago today was a balmy 101. One of the hottest days of summer, so far. And for workers striking outside the Park Hyatt hotel, the mercury reached even higher than that, when someone turned on the heat lamps. You know, the kind meant for winter. Or food.

Hotel officials seem to be claiming it was all a silly mistake and handed out water to the picketers after the lamps were turned off. The timing of the turning off and the handing out? That all happened not long after management learned the media would soon be arriving.
