Chart: Economic growth by president

Updated
Greg Careaga of Santa Cruz, California, sends this chart of economic growth by presidential administration. Careaga set out to rework David Leonhardt’s chart highlighting the Bush tax cuts, and ended up graphing real gross domestic product – the size of the economy, adjusted for inflation – all the way to President Eisenhower. “Which party is better at growing the economy?” Careaga writes. “The Democrats have a far superior track record since 1956.” (Got stuff to send? Send it! We love that kind of thing.)
