In his convention speech, Paul Ryan criticized President Obama for his 2009 economic stimulus, which Ryan says was " was borrowed, spent, and wasted" by the federal government.

Ryan himself asked for stimulus money for his district. But in his speech he called it "a case of political patronage, corporate welfare, and cronyism at their worst."

"What did taxpayers get out of the Obama stimulus?" he continued. "More debt. That money wasn't just spent and wasted. It was borrowed spent and wasted."
