The government shutdown caused chaos in Washington, D.C., but it may have caused something else: a baby boom!
Local CBS affiliate WNEW reports that Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington has seen an additional 100 babies born within the last three months, putting their conception exactly nine months since the government shutdown from October 1st through the 16th. Sibley Hospital in Northwest, D.C. reports three more babies per day than normal this month.
So despite being furloughed from their jobs during the shutdown, thousands of government workers were still able to keep themselves busy!
