Vice President Joe Biden is renewing his push on gun safety, as the NRA conference gets underway in Houston. Biden travels to South Carolina, an early 2016 primary state, but The Washington Post says his chances of becoming president remain a "long shot".

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says the administration is reconsidering its opposition to arming the rebels in Syria. He's the first administration official to say it, but he was quick to point out that no decision has been made and it's just one of several options on the table. But who are the rebels?
