President Barack Obama re-affirmed American support of Palestine Thursday in a joint-press conference with Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority.

Obama called for an end to the occupation of Palestine and the sovereignty of its people.

“I’ve returned to the West Bank because the United States is deeply committed to the creation of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine,” Obama said. “The Palestinian people deserve an end to occupation and the daily indignities that come with it.”
