Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is raffling off a "specially engraved shotgun" just as President Barack Obama is expected to announce his executive action plan to curb gun violence.
The Republican presidential candidate tweeted this link to his shotgun raffle webpage on Sunday.
The gun being raffled is a Remington 12-gauge shotgun. It will come with an engraved Ted Cruz logo. There's no purchase, payment, or contribution necessary to enter or win, as it states in the gun raffle webpage fine print. All that is required is for an entry to be received by 11:59 p.m. CST on January 30, 2016.
Ted Cruz has been a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment throughout his 2016 campaign, and this seems to be one more effort to remind voters of his stance on gun rights.
President Obama will meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch Monday to discuss ways to reduce gun violence. The executive order is expected to require more gun dealers to conduct background checks before sales.
