Pope Francis touches down in the nation’s capital on Tuesday for his first-ever trip to the United States. His whirlwind, six-day American tour begins with a greeting from President Barack Obama. While the pope will also address the United Nations and a joint-session of Congress, he has scheduled audiences with America's homeless, immigrant, and prison populations, too.

4:00 p.m. ET: Arrival from Cuba and greeting from President Obama at Joint Base Andrews

9:15 a.m. ET: Welcome ceremony and meeting with President Obama at the White House

11:00 a.m. ET: Papal Parade along the Ellipse and the National Mall 

11:30 a.m. ET: Midday Prayer with the bishops of the United States, St. Matthew's Cathedral
