An explosion at a New York high school injured three people on Thursday, a fire department spokesman said.

The explosion at John F. Kennedy High School in New York's Bronx borough was reported at 8:09 p.m. EDT, the spokesman said.

The three injured were taken to hospitals. The cause of the explosion was unknown, he said.
