227 years ago, 39 delegates gathered in a room and signed the U.S. Constitution, the document that led America to where it stands today.

In 2004, Congress decided that colleges and universities that receive federal funding should recognize the signing of the Constitution and named September 17 as U.S. Constitution Day.  

To celebrate this day, politicians took to Twitter to share their favorite phrases and thoughts about the Constitution.
