The red gown that first lady Michelle Obama wore to the 2013 inaugural ball will be displayed at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History for one year. In a moment of fashion history, it is the first time a second inaugural gown has been featured in the Smithsonian, which typically only displays first inaugural gowns. The gown will be part of the museum's "First Ladies" exhibit, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The long ruby-colored chiffon gown was created by designer Jason Wu, and will be on display at the museum along with the first lady's Jimmy Choo shoes from the event.
