Pope Francis loves the sinner and hates the sin (but not that much) in interview

Pope Francis suggested the Church focus more on being merciful and welcoming instead of dwelling on issues of abortion, contraception, and marriage equality in a recent interview that has caught the Church by surprise.

The Pope's message was that, "he really wants to emphasize the part of the church which reaches out to sinners and welcomes them.  And he wants to de-emphasize the condemnation of sin," Father John Bartunek told Weekends with Alex Witt

Father Bartunek said that Pope Francis wants to reshape how the Church reacts to issues like abortion and homosexuality.

“The church welcomes sinners and invites sinners to come and experience the love of God.  And everything else flows from there.  That's the heart.  And if we forget about that, then, you know, we're not going to be able to communicate anything else,” he said.
