US to provide small arms to Syria

Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs P.J. Crowley comments on the White House’s decision to provide small arms to the rebels in Syria. Crowley notes the significance of the administration’s decision from a policy standpoint and how it is more of a proxy war. Crowley notes that chemical weapons are the catalyst for the decision to provide military support. He says part of the hesitation from the Obama White House in providing small arms to the rebels in Syria is that they cannot guarantee that the weapons would not fall into Al-Qaeda’s hands.
