Rep: Mitch McConnell apparently 'panicked' about Ashley Judd Senate run

With an Ashley Judd Senate run increasingly looking like a possibility, Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Ky., says his colleague Sen. Mitch McConnell appears to be panicked, if the amount of effort put into discrediting her is any indication.

Yarmuth, pointed out that a Kentucky state poll puts the actress and McConnell in a dead heat.

Kentucky is currently roiling in the effects of sequestration, the congressman said, with one school already having to dismiss its special education teachers. Yarmuth added that the IRS just put out a notice that certain tax free bonds will have their interest credits reduced so that institutions that use these bonds have to pay more to service the debt.

There is one cut in particular, the White House cancellation of tours, that Yarmuth said was not necessary.

“I think it was a mistake, I wish they had not made that decision, when you basically shut the public out of one of the most iconic symbols of government than that’s a bad idea," Yarmuth said Sunday.
