Actress and activist Daryl Hannah has been arrested several times protesting construction of the Keystone Pipeline XL. But she’s not letting that stop her as she continues her drive to save the planet.

If President Obama green-lights construction of the pipeline, it will transport Tar Sands Oil from Alberta, Canada to refineries in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hannah says this is not conventional crude. Instead it is Tar Sands sludge, one of the dirtiest kinds, and very corrosive. It has to be heated to 150 degrees in order for it to move through the pipe and has already caused 12 spills in the last 12 months.

She says there have been many mischaracterizations that this project will bring a lot of jobs, but instead the only benefits from this pipeline go to the Koch brothers and people who own the refineries down by the Gulf of Mexico, who stand to make billions.

She says it is important to do the research and understand the reality of the situation because the way it is being presented to us is not what the truth of the situation is.

This weekend Republicans and Washington lobbyists called on the president to approve the pipeline.
