Donald Trump may be looking for his chance to tell New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, "You're fired."

In an interview Monday morning on Fox News, Trump said he would "make a decision at some time pretty soon" on whether he will challenge Cuomo for state leadership next year.

"Let's see what happens," Trump said. "I had something else in mind, and this was not actually something that I wanted to do."

Trump did not elaborate on what that "something else" was.

Earlier this month, Trump met with a group of Republican lawmakers to discuss a potential gubernatorial bid, despite repeatedly saying in the past he was "definitely not" running for governor.

"I think he's certainly considering it, at least that's the impression I got," New York Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis told POLITICO.
