Nearly 10,000 conservative activists are registered to attend this year's Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland.
Sen. Ted Cruz plans to kick off the annual three-day affair Thursday morning and Sarah Palin will offer closing remarks Saturday night. Other Republican headliners include Rep. Paul Ryan, Gov. Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, and Newt Gingrich. CPAC has helped launch presidential campaigns for many GOP stars and 26 hopefuls are competing in this year's straw poll.
The panel discussions also reveal the tone and the issues at the center of the conservative movement, with discussion topics ranging from "Healthcare After Obamacare: A Practical Guide for Living When No One Has Insurance and America Runs Out of Doctors" to "Rocky Mountain High: Does Legalized Pot Mean Society’s Going Up in Smoke?"
