Two years ago on this show, msnbc's Lawrence O'Donnell announced a unique partnership between msnbc and UNICEF called the K.I.N.D Fund -- Kids In Need of Desks. The goal of K.I.N.D. is to provide desks for the schoolchildren of Malawi. As of today, the program has raised over $4.5 million. That has allowed us to deliver over 45,000 desks to the boys and girls of Malawi.

On Monday's show, O'Donnell asked each viewer to tell at least one friend or family member about the K.I.N.D fund. You all certainly listened because since he asked that favor, your generous donations have raised another $62,000. That is almost a thousand more desks that will grace the classrooms in Malawi.

If you want to contribute to the K.I.N.D fund, please visit LastWordDesks.msnbc.com or call 1-800-4UNICEF. For just $32.50, you can provide a seat for one Malawi student. For $65, you can purchase a whole desk that will seat two or three students. A donation to the K.I.N.D fund makes a unique and very special gift for your loved ones during this holiday season and you can have an email gift notice sent to anyone on your list for whom you would like to give the present of a desk.

Thank you for continued support and generosity toward the K.I.N.D fund. Life is difficult for children in Malawi but by contributing to the K.I.N.D Fund, you are truly changing their lives and giving them a better hope for a great education and a bright future.
