President Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron snapped a selfie during Nelson Mandela’s memorial service in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The two politicians smiled for the photo with Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, who held up the smartphone to capture the image.

First lady Michelle Obama sat alongside the president.

The word "selfie" was proclaimed the Oxford Dictionaries word of the year for 2013, and is defined as "a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website."

The president's recent snapshot has been added to the "Selfies at Funerals" Tumblr page.

The Prime Minister's office had no comment regarding the selfie for NBC News.
