Tagg Romney, son of GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, has backed into his own corner after saying he wanted to "take a swing" at President Obama.
Tagg approached the president following the final presidential debate on Monday, NBC News reports, and apologized for his his remarks made during a radio interview in North Carolina last week.
Tagg had told the interviewer that following the town hall style debate in New York, Obama's comments made him “want to rush down the debate stage and take a swing at him.”
He continued, “But you know you can’t do that because — well first, because there is a lot of Secret Service between you and him, but also because this is the nature of the process, that they’re going to try to do everything they can do to try to make my dad into someone he’s not. We signed up for it. We got to kind of sit there and take our punches and then send them right back the other way.”
msnbc's Lawrence O'Donnell threw a counter-punch to Tagg's remarks last week when he drew on his Boston roots, dropping a few r's in his accent along the way, to egg-on the younger Romney for a fight.
"So you want to take a swing at someone for calling your old man a liar? Take a swing at me. Come on. Come on," O'Donnell said.
