Tonight during the show we showed you the return of, as Lawrence put it, "the old John McCain" as he went after, again quoting Lawrence, "Bat Crap Crazy" Michele Bachmann.

We played just a small portion of Sen. McCain's remarks given from the Senate floor, today. The Arizona Republican vehemently defended State Department Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin against claims made by Rep. Bachmann and four other Republicans, alleging she could have connections with the Muslim Brotherhood. But Sen. McCain said quite a bit more than we had time to show on you the air.

Today, Rep. Michele Bachmann also received a blistering critique from her former campaign chief, Republican strategist Ed Rollins.

In an editorial posted to FOXNews.com today, Rollins wrote:

Having worked for Congressman Bachman's (sic) campaign for president, I am fully aware that she sometimes has difficulty with her facts, but this is downright vicious and reaches the late Senator Joe McCarthy level. The Republican Party... is going to become irrelevant if we become the party of intolerance and hate. ...Mrs. Bachmann you know better. Shame on you, Michele!

Rep. Bachmann responded today with a statement posted to her official House website. You can read the whole thing here, but the last line says it all:

"This is just the latest example of the dangerous national security decisions made by the Obama administration. I will not be silent as this administration appeases our enemies instead of telling the truth about the threats our country faces."

You can also read the letter (one of several, actually) Rep. Bachmann and four other Republicans sent to the State Department right here.
