Netflix’s best drama series nomination for its series House of Cards made Emmy history Thursday, marking the first time that television’s top awards have recognized an online show. The political thriller received nine nominations in total, including nominations in acting categories for stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences changed its rules six years ago to allow online series to submit work.

Other shows nominated for best drama series include HBO's Game of Thrones,  AMC's Breaking Bad, PBS's Downton Abbey, AMC's Mad Men and last year’s winner, Showtime's Homeland.

The most number of Emmy nominations—17—went to American Horror Story: Asylum. Game of Thrones received 16 bids, while NBC's Saturday Night Live and HBO's Behind the Candelabra earned 15 nominations each.

Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul and How I Met Your Mother actor Neil Patrick Harris announced the nominees for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards Thursday morning. Both actors also received nominations, Paul for best supporting actor in a drama and Harris for his gig hosting the Tony Awards.

The Emmy's ceremony will air Sept. 22.
