Lost in the kerfuffle of Rick Perry's campaign-killing flub remains an even bigger "oops" for Herman Cain. On the campaign trail today, he's been trying very hard to sweep his "Princess Nancy" jab under the rug.
"I apologized for calling her Princess Pelosi," he said before turning the tables on the former speaker of the House and the media at large. "You know, I remember when Speaker Pelosi called me and the tea party people 'AstroTurf.'" The Republican hopeful then admitted to only semi-apologizing just to get reporters off his back.
Directly following last night's CNBC debate, Cain acknowledged referring to Democratic leader as "Princess Nancy" was a poor choice of words. (Um, yeah!) Also not a way to win over female voters.
The former Godfather's Pizza CEO is currently being accused of sexual harassment by at least four women, mind you.
Democratic Rep. James Clyburn called the candidate's behavior "unbecoming" and "disrespectful."
"That kind of boorishness that we see on the part of Mr. Cain plays into a narrative that's been out here now for the last two weeks," the congressman told msnbc host Andrea Mitchell. "He ought to be very, very careful how he react to or treat women going forward."
He added, "I am from South Carolina, he is from Georgia. Us Southern gentlemen just don't act that way."
