Chicago ties are not a strong enough bond for President Obama when it comes down to the "Jay-Z or Kanye West" faux argument.

Atlantic reporter David Samuels got to the heart of the matter with President Obama, asking him point blank which rapper he prefers: "Jay-Z or Kanye West?" (Apparently, that's what one chit chats about with the President of The United States when you're at a swank event together).

Right away, and with a smile, Obama admitted to being a Jay-Z guy. Let's not forget, first lady Michelle Obama formally teamed up with Jay-Z’s wife, the lovely Beyoncé Knowles, in the Let’s Move campaign to fight against the childhood obesity epidemic. So, there’s something to that. Also, Jay-Z was not the one who jumped on stage at the now epic MTV Video Music Awards and interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech. Nope, not him.

"Although, I like Kanye," Obama went on. "He's a Chicago guy. Smart. He's very talented."

Samuels followed up with the question, "Even though you called him a jackass?"

"He is a jackass," Obama reiterated. "But he's talented."
