Illinois Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno got a few things off of her chest during her "point of personal privilege" remarks on the state floor yesterday. Although the debate during which Radogno's comments were made had to do with "dolla dolla bills" — the debate was over the Illinois budget crisis — quoting Wu-Tang rapper Raekwon seemed to come out of nowhere.
Apparently, Raekwon sent a letter to the Republican, brimming with economic advice. It seemed to strike a chord with the state senator. Instead of sharing this advice, she chose to directly quote lyrics from Wu-Tang's "C.R.E.A.M." The whole event seems pretty out of place. But a politician saying, "cash rules everything around me" may be the most honest thing we've heard all week.
