Today, President Obama hosted the first ever Twitter town hall at the White House. Users tweeted questions to the president — under the 140 characters count, naturally — using the #AskObama tag. The social networking site picked all 18 questions and Obama responded verbally without any restrictions.
The event focused on jobs and the economy. And top Republican leaders took the chance to slide in their own snarky questions for the president:
Though, it was Republican Speaker John Boehner’s question that actually made the cut:
Obama immediately noted, "This is a slightly skewed question." In response to Boehner's tweet, the president insisted there has been progress on the job front, but not at a fast pace. "What he’s right about is that we have not seen fast enough job growth relative to the need," said Obama.
He said the government could do more to jump start job creation, but Republicans haven't been giving him the proper support to do so. Obama said, "There are some areas where the Republicans have been more resistant in cooperating, even though I think most objective observers think it’s the right thing to do."
Obama also teased Boehner for an html code error which translated to bad typing on the screen. (Let’s not forget, he has been declared The Nerd President.)
This isn’t the first time Obama reached out to the hip tech-savvy voters of America. In April, he took part in a Facebook town hall.
