The already dramatic debt vote in the House ended with a surprise appearance by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. She returned to Congress today, casting her vote in favor of the debt plan. The entire floor erupted in a standing ovation upon news of her arrival. This is her first visit back since suffering a massive head wound in the Tucson shooting.
In a 269-161 vote, the House passed the largest deficit reduction package in history. The Senate is scheduled to vote on the bill tomorrow at noon.
