Tuesday evening, former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford beat Elizabeth Colbert Busch in the special congressional election in South Carolina, 54%-45%.  While his political career has been a tumultuous journey, his victory has evidently shown that a political scandal and state ethics violations will not sway voters. Sanford's political party proved to trump all in his district.
