Vice President Joe Biden and his staff have developed 19 areas where President Obama could use the power of the executive order to institute new gun control policy. Rep Jackie Speier (D-CA), who was at the White House meeting with Vice President Biden, said that these ideas were provided as "background information for the president" but the choice to exercise executive order would be up to him. Biden focused on executive orders knowing the political obstruction an assault weapons ban or any new gun control legislation would face in Congress. According to the White House, the president is expected to announce his gun-safety proposals as early as Wednesday.
