Director and actor Rob Reiner stuck around after Monday night's The Last Word to speak with Lawrence O'Donnell about msnbc, the presidential election, and what happens when you get old.

Reiner is an msnbc fan, particularly of The Rachel Maddow Show and The Last Word. "There are few people who actually talk for [me]," he said. "You and Rachel, I love watching the two of you. You guys talk for me."

The two men did a little bit of "shtick," to quote Reiner, about what it means to get older, and O'Donnell told a story about the shoddy sound system in the vice presidential debate spin room. The bad audio quality, he said, caused him not to hear a key word in one of Martha Raddatz's questions.

"When Martha Raddatz asked the question about abortion," O'Donnell told Reiner, "Guess what word I didn't hear? Abortion. I didn't even know it was an abortion question!"
