In a new ad released Thursday, the daughter of New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio defends her father's campaign a day after his Republican opponent Joe Lhota released an attack ad against de Blasio.
Chiara de Blasio sports her signature rose headband and argued that her father offers an unparallelled vision for the city of New York.
“From the start of this campaign, Bill de Blasio has offered a vision for New York that leaves no one behind," Chiara narrates in the ad over upbeat music. "Now that my dad’s on the move. His opponents are on the attack."
A clear reference to Lhota as one of de Blasio's opponents who are on the attack, the ad serves as a striking contrast to Lhota's harsh ad which warned voters that if de Blasio were elected, New York would spiral back to the city's dark past of high crime rates and racial riots.
Recently, Bill de Blasio's campaign for New York City Mayor made headlines for a campaign ad featuring his son, Dante, who became nationally recognized for his 'fro. (President Obama said it was better than his own had been back in the '70s.)
De Blasio's daughter ends the ad by alluding to her brother, Dante. “All of this attention is a good thing,” she says, “as long as it’s not your little brother.”
