Today we got our first look at what is sure to be the blockbuster of next summer. This is the first full trailer for The Avengers. Released today, it essentially made the Internets asplode.
The film is the culmination of a huge multi-film setup from the folks at Marvel Studios: two Iron Man films, Thor, and Captain America (the studio is basically ignoring both previous Hulk films with a new look and actor, this time played by Mark Ruffalo).Entertainment Weekly has done a pretty thorough breakdown of what we're seeing so far that you can read here, but this is my favorite detail:
Writer-director Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly) is wisely setting up not just conflicts within the team, but conflicts within the personalities themselves. Never mind that Captain America was once a scrawny little shrimp who knew that what truly counted was a person's inner strength.
